IT'S BEEN A BIG MONTH FOR CIRRUS IDENTITY AND WE'VE GOT SOME EXCITING NEWS TO SHARE WITH YOU!

OUR TEAM IS GROWING

The Cirrus Identity team is growing to support our expanding customer base. Two new full-time engineers have joined the Cirrus team: Rob Urquhart, who served as the lead identity architect at Simon Fraser University for over 20 years, will be working on technical design and development as a Principal Identity Engineer. Patrick Radtke, who worked on the Stanford University identity management team for four years and spent the last year working on SAML integrations for SaaS at Jive Software, will also serve as a Principal Identity Engineer, enhancing existing and developing new services.

We are working with Newcastle University in the motherland. Here is what their log-in process looked like before Cirrus Identity.

At the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), new students and their parents attend summer orientations to learn all about the campus. Parents always ask, “how can I access information about my child's course schedule, tuition, and their grades”? Up until Cirrus Identity, the answer has been, "talk to your kid!" As parents, we know that is often a difficult task as students are engrossed in their college lives. Parents need a way to check in without having to track down their sons and daughters.

Cirrus Identity is happy to announce that we have joined Internet2 as an Industry Partner. Internet2 and InCommon are key strategic partners in achieving our goal of streamlining access to EdTech services. In 2014, we engaged actively with the Higher Ed identity community as a part of the InCommon Affiliate program, and through regular participation in InCommon sponsored workgroups and annual conferences. As the InCommon Affiliate program makes way for new Internet2 industry alliance programs, we look forward to continued engagement with InCommon, Internet2, other Net+ providers, and especially with the EdTech community, in 2015.

One of the most widely adopted unique identifiers in higher education federated identity management is eduPersonPrincipalName (ePPN), defined as part of the eduPerson LDAP schema established by Internet2’s Middleware Architecture Committee for Education (MACE-dir). Historically, ePPN is defined by a campus and includes a local, unique identifier (netID) scoped at the campus domain, e.g. netID@university.edu.
